The groundbreaking ceremony for the "Am Dych" residential housing complex took place on 17 November 2022 in Münchenstein, Switzerland.

Zürcher Kantonalbank's Asset Management is implementing another important sustainable residential construction project for the Swisscanto Investment Foundation. This time in Münchenstein, in the Swiss canton of Basel Landschaft. A green residential housing complex is being built on the former production site of the confectionery and baked goods manufacturer Läckerli Huus.

The "Am Dych" project is located in an idyllic location by St. Alban Pond directly on the city boundary of Basel. It comprises three architecturally appealing buildings with over 170 apartments. The broad mix of apartments offers both spacious family apartments and an expanded range of compact and cheaper flats. This variety, together with the location that is ideally accessible by public transport, should particularly appeal to people who want to live in an optimised space with resource efficiency.

Sustainable energy and promotion of biodiversity

The new development will meet the highest sustainability standards. The aim is to achieve at least Gold-level certification according to the Swiss Sustainable Building Standard SNBS. Heat generation for the residential buildings on the low-car site will generally be provided by sustainable energy.

Besides public entrances and paths, the 3,400-square-metre open space also includes a playground and direct access to St. Alban Pond, which was previously somewhat pushed to the periphery by the industrial facilities. In addition to lawns and a large stock of trees, measures to promote biodiversity are deliberately integrated into the landscape design.

Last week, the groundbreaking ceremony for the project with planning permission was celebrated together with all those involved, and the first tenants are expected to move into apartments in 2025. Images of the project, work in progress and groundbreaking ceremony can be found in the video.
